About Emunah True

Mission Statement
To improve a person’s quality of life through counseling, guidance, structure, support and care by creating a positive mental, emotional and spiritual environment for a healthier lifestyle.
A Caring Therapist
In order for me to assist with this goal in a person’s life I get to know them on a personal level and create a professional, and caring bond. I let the person be themselves without harsh reprimand that play into their negative self-image and self-worth. I can bring a positive environment with safety, boundaries and love. Being around people with special needs and people with varying levels of skills and education, the youth will be able to learn on the level they are at now.
The experience I have with teens varies. I have completed an internship at the Sacramento County Youth Detention Center, where I work with incarcerated at-risk youth and special needs youth. I have worked in many community centers. The community centers, I have worked in are Oak Park, Fruitridge, and the Police Athletic League (PAL). I also have worked with teens in religious settings and outreach programs. I have worked for special-needs organizations such as Easter Seals Camp and NorCal Kids Club.
Structure
I have a few others in the Emunah True family with the same interest to help the reentry population, families and people with addiction. We can increase the depth and reach of our healing services. Everyone has their professional credentials up to date and are currently working in their field. Emunah True can meet the needs of traumatized and troubled individuals with and without special needs. We can help you to help them be successful.

Our services allow Emunah True to provide assistance to the individual receiving counseling and training to transition into the community.
Kujenga Club
Kujenga means build in Swahili. We will help build up skills for people with special needs. Some individuals are from the reentry and incarcerated populations. Autism, learning disabilities, Irlen syndrome and stress are hidden disabilities.
The Kujenga Club is a recreation and leisure club that has a Recreational Therapy (RT) focus. Our program is utilized in the community setting. The National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) is the premier credentialing organization for the profession of Therapeutic Recreation. The following definition is from their website.
Recreational therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery and well-being.
The purpose of the RT process is to improve or maintain physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual functioning in order to facilitate full participation in life. Services are provided or directly supervised by a “Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist” (CTRS).
Recreational therapy includes, but is not limited to, providing treatment services and recreation activities to individuals using a variety of techniques including arts and crafts, animals, sports, games, dance and movement, drama, music, and community outings. Recreational therapists treat and help maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of their clients by seeking to reduce depression, stress, and anxiety; recover basic motor functioning and reasoning abilities; build confidence; and socialize effectively. Recreational therapists should not be confused with recreation workers, who organize recreational activities primarily for enjoyment.
Interaction & Support
How Emunah True and I can fit into your program or life, let us help you figure that out. Take a peek into how needs can be met.
We engulf ourselves with experiences to demonstrate the positive effects that engagement in wholesome activities can have in one’s life. By interacting, clients learn the skills and talents they possess. They learn they are worth loving and a precious part of this universe. They learn these feelings as they climb and achieve higher heights.
Recreational Therapy
Clinicians can assist with obtaining, retaining and maintain skills. I facilitate groups that are based off of the assessment information to reach the goal the client and I need to work on which will usually fall into one of the following categories. Life skills, Social skills, Family relations, Self-worth, Physical Wellness, Recreation and Leisure and Sober Living. I can utilize information from medical and psychological doctors to make individualized treatment plan. We utilize information to improve the awareness and control of negative or unwanted behaviors. This is where we utilize majority of our therapeutic interventions.
Recreation is a vital part of enjoying life. Enjoying life with others inside and outside is part of our nature. As recreation Therapist we also expose people to life changing experiences. We teach Recreation and Leisure education skills to promote these types of activities. As Recreation Therapist we also do treatment plans and documentation on the clients to track their progress. We can coach sports and assist with finding a sports team. We do trust activities that can bring families and groups closer together. Organize community events like carnivals, put on special events like Christmas parties and field trips like a day hike or ski trip. We not only look for activities, we participate. We engulf ourselves with experiences to demonstrate the positive affect that engagement in wholesome activities can have in one’s life. By interacting clients learn the skills and talents they possess and learn they are worth loving and a precious part of this universe. They learn these feelings as they climb and achieve higher heights.

What is Recreational Therapy?
Therapy based on engagement in recreational activities (as sports or music) specially to enhance the functioning, independence, and well-being of individuals affected with a disabling condition

What is Irlen Syndrome?
Irlen Syndrome (also referred to at times as Meares-Irlen Syndrome, Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome, and Visual Stress) is a perceptual processing disorder. It is not an optical problem. It is a problem with the brain’s ability to process visual information. This problem tends to run in families and is not currently identified by other standardized educational or medical tests.
Irlen® Screener
I am certified to screen for a life debilitating issue. The Irlen Syndrome is a brain perception issue that affects about 15% – 17% of the population. About 85% of incarcerated people have the Irlen Syndrome. Most of these people have never heard of the Irlen Syndrome and they can get some relief from symptoms. It could prevent so much pain and suffering along with diminished self-confidence and self-love. The cost can be worked out to fit your program.
